The aim of this study is to find out the space occupied by the theme "Nursing Education" as an investigation subject matter on the totality of Brazilian Nursing Association's publications. The information sources used were: Brazilian Nursing Meetings and the Brazilian Nursing Journal, which were considered reliable. The authors used that material to find out the interest degree of nurses about this research subject, developing a retrospective survey of the Meetings and Journals referred before. The period verified was from 1947 to 1981. As partial results we have: from a totality of 761 research works presented in the Meetings, 124 (16,29%) deal with Nursing Education. They were classified in different classes: formal education, learner preparation, teaching methods, teacher training, undergraduate curriculum disciplines and teaching-service integration.
