This study is about the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the University Extension Program on Maternity and Child Nursing, giving emphiasis tò the Pregnancy Period. Facts and results on carrying out the activities are discussed and analysed, an a Basic Care Unit (BCU), by teachers and students from the Anna Nery Nursing School. The work proposal aims of offer opportunities in order to help the student on manageing the nursing, foensing the link between "study-work", taking place in a Rio de Janeiro peripheric. It still has to do with the UFRJ extension proposal. It shows the validity and significance of this work, taking into account the students' evaluation, who took part in setting it up through a period of two years.
