This is a documentary, retrospective and descriptive study, conducted in a medical university hospital, aiming to build a nursing protocol to prevent falls in elderly clients. It was found eighteen (18) medical records that fit the inclusion criteria, of which eleven (10) were of women aged 60-69 years; there was a lack of record on previous falls in fourteen (14) medical records; eleven (11) of the elderly clients fell from their own heights; fractures was the result of the fall in sixteen (16) of the elderly clients. It was developed a protocol for nursing action focused on preventing falls, according to the emerging needs: 1) falls in elderly and healthy feeding; 2) falls from own height and secure environment, 3) fracture and musculoskeletal system strengthening.
