Perception of Intensive Care Unit patients — problems felt and expectations in relation of nursing care

A survey made with adult patients, submitted to cardiac surgery, who stayed in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) between 24 to 72 hours. The main point of the survey was to verify the most frequent problems felt by the patients in ICU and their expectations in relation to nursin care. It was found that, the majority of the problems felt and of the expectations related to nursing assistance belong in the basic area, more so than in the technical area.
