Women in the Amazon: struggles in defense of their body-territories

Abstract:

The article seeks to reflect on the organization of women in the Amazon in defense of their territorial bodies. The analysis starts from the assumption that the exploration of the Amazon follows the same colonizing project of the territorial bodies and that the struggles against the expropriation of nature that impacts on climate change are experienced in a particular way by the women who emerge as the main force of resistance in the present. Based on theoretical research with bibliographical and narrative analysis, we reflect on the concept of body-territory, focusing on the mobilization of indigenous and quilombola women during COP 27. The study pointed out that this debate in a feminist perspective, which considers the protagonism of these leaders, it can change the understanding of environmental issues and raise awareness about the defense of body-territories.
