Open-access Athletes Trans Bodies Generification and Sex Biologization

The aim is to analyze sport as a body’s device, challenging it epistemological conception as a biological matter and a biotechnological practice object of gender, sex, and sexuality construction in athletes. We discuss this conceptualization in situations that involved both female and transexual athletes in the national and international sports scene, and the ways in which these examples allow us to rethink subjectivity categories in the sports field. In these situations, the resources for categorizing sex, gender, and sexuality, were sustained under the aegis of biology and molecular and genetic biotechnologies. We believe that the biology of athletes’ bodies should not be seen as a totalizing discursive resource in the identity construction of these subjects.
