INFLUENCE OF TRAINING LOADS ON PERFORMANCE AND RECOVERY IN SWIMMERS

ABSTRACT

This study investigated the behavior of the recovery state and levels of performance according to external and internal training loads in juvenile swimmers. The study included 17 athletes belonging to a club of Minas Gerais. To test the differences between the four weeks analyzed, performance and RESTq, we used ANOVA for repeated measures and between the athletes recovery state in the two phases, the Student t test for paired samples was used. The statistical software Statistica (version 8.0) and a significance level of 5 % was used. The results showed that the internal and external load variables decreased that Transformation Phase for the Tapering Phase. In contrast, levels of recovery was increased. However, the performance did not change between the three competitions, and during the main competition, there was no significant change in the RESTq recovery - stress ratio.
