THE FLOW STATE IN YOUTH BASKETBALL PLAYERS: A ANALYSES OF THE INFLUENCE OF AGE AND PRACTICE TIME

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to analyze the levels of flow and the interference of age and practice time in young basketball athletes. The study sample consisted of 59 athletes from 5 different teams from the Southeast. Being two of the teams considered elite teams. It was used a semi-structured interview and a questionnaire to collect general data about the athletes. To evaluate the interview was used the method of content analysis. To compare the age and practice time used the test dependence variables Pearson chi-square and the Fisher exact test. The results show that age can influence the dimensions less quoted (action-awareness merging, unambiguous feedback, loss of self-consciousness, transformation of time) and the total flow. Practice time can influence the dimension most cited, sense of control.
