Development of new washing and classifying plants for contaminated material

The technologies for recycling materials, especially in the electronics and civil construction industries, have experienced a huge growth in the last years. In this context, an innovative washing and classifying system was developed to turn contaminated material into a valuable secondary raw material. The washing, comminution and classifi cation are processes that integrate the so called washing plants and, sometimes, they can produce end products, like aggregates for construction. This work describes the concept of a compact plant that is made up of three basic components: a washing and classifying unit, a sand recovery unit and an integrated water treatment unit. Depending on the amount of dirt, up to 100 t/h of material can be processed. This plant was designed to operate with a particle size range of 0-63 mm, but depending of the application, the particle top size can be 150 mm.
