This work presents an original investigation to study multiple-floor structural behavior of buildings through a nonlinear inelastic analysis. It uses the geometrically exact theory for shells initially plane in nonlinear elasticity and rods in the three-dimensional space works in elastic-plastic way. It considers the concrete slabs transversal rigidity influence like homogeneous material molten in loco. Several different buildings structures including both geometric and material nonlinearities are analyzed and with GID's help, version 7, the buildings structural behavior can be observed. The numerical examples demonstrate the robustness, accuracy and efficiency of the method and computer program.
