Inertial inflation and the Cruzado plan

ABSTRACT

On February 28 of 1986 the Brazilian government decided to freeze all prices. This “heterodox shock” and the development by Brazilian economists of the theory of inertial inflation, which served as a theoretical basis for the shock, are here discussed.
