Abstract
In this essay I will argue in defense of the idea, that moral education plays an indispensable role for the application of Kantian ethics and that, although the philosopher did not develop a systematic theory on this topic, it is formulated explicitly in some works and tacitly assumed in others. To do this, I turn to three aspects, that seem relevant to me in order to understand an legitimize his conception: 1) moral education as a fundamental human right; 2) its task as an exercise of the faculty of judgment and as a social phenomenon and 3) the role of the State in promoting it. These three aspects may not cover Kant’s account on moral education, but without them his understanding is not possible.
