Based on criminal lawsuits as well as on newspapers, this article aims at looking into the hotels located in the vicinities of the rail stations of the districts of Luz and Brás in São Paulo City, in the first two decades of the 20thcentury. The text shall focus particularly on the profile of the guests of such hotels and on the reasons that led them to stay in these places.
