For a heartfelt cartography: from the fictional imaginary “Cidadilha” to the island city of Vitória (ES)

ABSTRACT

From the imaginary geography of “Cidadilha”, the writer and historian Luiz Guilherme Santos Neves’ colonial island city of Vitória (ES), the goal is to build a heartfelt cartography. For that, the figure of a traveler-cartographer was created, who will disembark on the island to experience it anthropophagically and re-introduce the fiction from the visitor’s point of view. He will open clues for interlocutions between the theoretical corpus and the cartographic experiences accomplished in the empirical object’s concreteness (the city of Vitória). The article is structured as a travel itinerary, also assuming that “Cidadilha” is a voyage in space-time credible to the original layout of (and still verifiable in) Vitoria’s founding nucleus.
