ABSTRACT
Through the analysis of “Iracema voou” I seek to demonstrate how the song places a critical point of view on the process of immigration of Brazilians to the United States in a context of globalization and economic crisis in the country in the 90’s. I take it as a hypothesis that the Chico Buarque’s song redimensions the perspectives of Brazil as a nation and national identity.
