One and all: the construction of women’s writing on arts in Chile between 1824 and 1927

ABSTRACT

Women’s writing in Chile was produced at the beginning of the 19th century, parallel to the construction of the nation-state. At the beginning of the 20th century, combined with the proto-feminist movement, women’s associative networks began to gain relevance and collective strength. Several writers and poets established relationships of solidarity and creative support. This article seeks to establish those networks of writers and artists providing evidence for the construction of a female genealogy in critical art writing in Chile and propose new possible stories about women’s creative processes during a hundred years of history.
