“Choque cultural”, notes on an interview by Celso Furtado to Zelito Viana, 1975

ABSTRACT

This article brings some notes about the short film Choque cultural, directed by Zelito Viana, whose thread is the historic interview by Celso Furtado to the director in Rio de Janeiro in 1975. We contextualize the interview and the circumstances that brought them together. Without intending to do cinematographic criticism, we connect Furtado’s speech and the images from Zelito’s film and we relate Furtado’s reflections in the interview with the works he published in the period around the making of the short film and in the 1980s and 1990s.
