ABSTRACT
This dossier addresses a topic little studied in Brazil, namely: the role of women in the field of art criticism. From the perspective of gender studies, we have brought together seven articles that address the following questions from different trajectories, productions and cases: were there women practicing art criticism, aesthetic investigations and art history between the 18th century and the end of the XX? If so, who were these women? Why do we know so little about them? What did they write and where did they write? What type of visions, values and proposals did they defend? Was there any type of specificity in your criticisms and themes arising from your gender conditions?
