ABSTRACT
Joining History and Fiction, the book Tom Vermelho do Verde by Frei Betto reports the Waimiri-Atroari massacre, against the backdrop of the construction of the BR-174 Highway, during Military Dictatorship, in the years 1968-1980. In fact, the military, allied with members of Funai, together with miners who pretend to be evangelical pastors, interested in exploiting the immense mineral resources of the Amazon rainforest, carry out a veritable genocide - which, in the current situation, means an ecocide.
