ABSTRACT
Cangaço was a very common theme in books, newspapers, songs, theatrical part and movies throughout all the first half of XX century. This article has the point to compare intelectual views about this subject, making the purpose to explain how the cangaço was intellectually recreated by writers, engaging the discourses about it with the politic chronic of Brazil between the decades 20’ and 60’.
