A lyric poet in the Madness of Capitalism: “As vitrines”, by Chico Buarque

ABSTRACT

The main aim of this article is to examine the meanings of the song “As vitrines”, by Chico Buarque (1981)BUARQUE, Chico. Almanaque. Ariola, 201 640, 1981. 1 LP.. The paper takes up critical texts that interpreted the song, but proposes an original deciphering key, extracted from the form of the work itself. With an interdisciplinary perspective and an essayistic bias, the analysis mobilizes tools from literary theory, musicology and critical theory, as well as drawing on studies rooted in historiography and the social sciences.
