Readings in competition (at a distance): two research experiments based on the work of Celso Furtado

ABSTRACT

The impact of Celso Furtado’s work, as well as the availability of an immense amount of data that allows to measure scientific production patterns, motivated two research experiments. The first, a scientometric exploration of two databases, Web of Science and SciELO, sought to detect the main themes and research areas that interact with Furtado’s texts. The second, an analysis of the flow of visits between Wikipedia entries dedicated to Furtado in different languages, with the aim of mapping the main “public” controversies about his legacy.
