Abstract
The main objective of this study is to analyze the issue of gender parity in campaigns and in the Mexican electoral law. For this, it starts with the study of the historical basis of the right to vote for women. After analyzing some gender issues and the notions of fairness and equality, the work presents the intimate relationship among these aspects. It also analyzes the development of the gender quota in the Mexican electoral law and what consequences this has brought in the pursuance of parity. Finally, it presents a case study related to this issue.
