Abstract
This article aims to contribute to the debate on food in contemporary capitalism, especially from the perspective of hunger and obesity. The work is theoretical, and started from bibliographic research and statistical data, in order to help the analysis. For this, approximations were established between Marxist theory and the field of public health for the food-commodity debate, observing the deleterious effects of social inequalities in guaranteeing the Human Right to Food, resulting in a double burden of poor diet as expression of the social question in contemporary capitalism.
