Work precariousness and mental health of social workers

Abstract

The article aims to contribute to studies on the precariousness of the working conditions of the social worker and the implications for his mental health, in a context marked by the structural crisis of the capital. A methodical analysis was performed to identify articles published in Brazilian journals in the Social Work area, between 2010 and 2021, classified by Qualis A1, A2 and B1. The following structuring categories of search were working conditions, precariousness, mental health, socio-occupational space, professional performance and Social Work. The research revealed that the relationships and working conditions to which social workers are subjected have direct impacts on their physical and mental health. Therefore, the expansion of research that indicates strategies for health promotion, prevention and combating diseases, especially mental diseases, which can lead the social worker to move away from work and to the resulting impairment or loss of their effective conditions of survival, is unavoidable.
