This article emphasizes the relevance of Lukács' posthumous work Ontology of the Social Being for the restitution of the dimension of ontological criticism of Marxian thinking. It especially considers the chapter on labor, in which Lukács begins to delineate the social being and capture his specific categories. It is in labor, as a mediating category par excellence, that the author seeks the genesis of the categories: finality, awareness, separation of subject-object, science, alternative, value and liberty. The paper focuses on some of these categories that are not usually emphasized, including in works dedicated to Ontology.
