In this paper the advantages of clinical work in psychosis from a psychoanalytic perspective are shown. Four clinical cases that illustrate the problem are thus presented. We then discuss the place of psychoanalysis in the science of the subject. The practical advantage of psychoanalysis is then treated. Next the most important data presented by psychoanalysis in clinical work in the area of psychosis are described, where analysis helped solve the cases presented. Finally we call for a discussion of the gaps which psychoanalysis must still confront.
