The purpose of this essay is to elaborate the genealogy of the clinic, based on Nietzsche’s genealogical discourse and on a reading of this discourse later done by Foucault. If his starting point is the problematization of contemporary clinical dilemmas, his development focuses on the problematization of the emergence of the medical clinic at the end of the 18th century and the re-articulation of the clinic discourse undertaken by psychoanalysis.
