This paper aims to present a different way of understanding psychic suffering, based on Heidegger’s considerations about Dasein and Sorge in Being and Time and on his thoughts on psychopathology in the Zollikon Seminars. From this point of view, the psychopathological phenomena are understood as a restriction of meaning and a feeling of strangeness, caused by the loss of familiarity with the world.
