Human beings are born in a condition of crisis because they lack the resources needed to face the threats to life. Through creative work sustained by the mother, the baby mobilizes its resources for survival and is, at the same time, created by them. The overcoming of this first crisis becomes the basis and model for the creative overcoming of many other crises in life. This article is about creativity in relation to fundamental psychopathology, studying psychoanalytic authors, including Freud and, especially, Winnicott, within clinical references. The article is basically aimed at the clinic and at life itself.
