Os ingredientes da parentalidade

We are not born parents, we become parents… The parenthood is fabricated with complex ingredients. Some ingredients are collective, they change with time, and they can be historic, legal, social and cultural. Others are the more private, conscious or subconscious, that belong to each of the parents. Here is where it becomes important what is transmitted between generations and what is hidden, such as childhood traumas and the way each person healed them. There are, as well, many factors that belong to the child that transforms the biological parents into real parents. Some babies are born in better health than others. The ones that have a condition (pre-maturity, suffering while inside the womb, physical or mental handicap) must surpass various obstacles and develop multiple strategies to start normal relationships as an esteemed adult. This text analyses, from the perspective of a trans-cultural clinic, the different levels of construction and the possible therapeutic modalities when there are difficulties in parenthood.
