This work intended to evaluate how the techniques of image segmentation using optical microscopy, x-ray diffraction and ferritescope testing would be able to quantify the deformation-induced martensite in stainless steel austenitic AISI 301L. Comparing qualitatively the three techniques, the same behavior for all tested samples is noticed, namely, the percentage of martensite increases with the degree of measured real deformation in relation to the area reduction, however, the quantification of the phases proposed by each one differs significantly in percentage, having the segmentation of images smaller dispersion between the analyzed techniques.
