The impact of calcium ingestion on the bone mineralization in adolescents

The puberty is distinguished as the main period for bone mass acquisition. During this phase of the life, the mineralization finds an increase with higher taxes of bone formation compared to re-absorption cycle. In this direction, the objective of this revision was an investigation of the interrelation between the dietary calcium ingestion and bone mineralization during the puberty. Among nutritional factors, deserve prominence phosphate and magnesium, that, jointly with calcium keep the structural integrity of the skeleton. The literature revision indicated that the excesses of protein and carbonated soft drinks in the feeding of the young people cause a jeopardizing in the bone mineralization, even so the data is still contradictory. In conclusion, during the period of the puberty, is indicated to keep the amount of calcium in adjusted levels, with the perspective of bone mass peak maximization.
