Tocoyena bullata (Vell.) Mart. (Rubiaceae). Anatomia foliar

Abstract

In this report, the author contributes to the knowledge of the leaf anatomy of Tocoyena bullata (Vell.) Mart. He points out the occurrence of emergency and colleter in the stipule, paracytic type stomata, dorsiventral mesophyll and colateral vascular bundles. The vascular system acquires a ring shape in the leaf blade or in the petiole, occasionally enclosing a few small medullary strands in the latter. Tannin and crystal idioblasts can be found in fundamental parenchyma of stipule, petiole, midrib and in the chlorenchyma of mesophyll.
