Abstract
A taxonomic treatment for the Malvaceae occurring in the canga of Serra dos Carajás is presented. A total of 17 species in nine genera were recorded, of which Sida is the richest with four species, followed by Melochia and Helicteres with three species each. Helicteres guazumifolia, Melochia splendens, Sida linifolia and S. tuberculata are new records for the state of Pará. This work presentes morphological descriptions, identification keys for genera and species, illustrations, geographic distribution and comments for the species treated.
