Flora of the canga of the Serra dos Carajás, Pará, Brazil: Solanaceae

Abstract

We present an account of Solanaceae species occurring in the canga formations of the Serra dos Carajás, Pará state, Brazil. Twenty-three species are recorded, both native or established adventive, grouped in five genera: Cestrum, Hawkesiophyton, Physalis, Schwenckia, and Solanum. Nineteen of the described species belong to the hiperdiverse genus Solanum, most of them from open areas or forest edges, occasionally occurring in canga formations. Descriptions, identification keys for the taxa, and illustrations are provided.
