Novas espécies de Cinnamomum Schaefer do Brasil

Abstract

The author describes two new brazilian species of Cinnamomum Schaefer (Lauraceae): C. caratingae Vattimo n. sp., occurring in Caratinga, State of Minas Gerais and C. sabanae Vattimo n. sp., that was collected 12km from Zuzu, State of Mato Grosso do Sul. C. caratingae differs immediately from all american species of Cinnamomum with quadrilocular anthers by the chartaceous leaves. The epithet is related to the geographic local of collection. C. sabanae is related to C. verum Presl, differing chiefly by the leaves trinerved at base and penninerved toward the apex and by the velvety branchlets. The epithet is related to the vegetal formation where the plant occurs: savannah.
