Abstract
The present work is part of the project of the Flora of Espírito Santo and aimed to characterize morphologically the species of Amaryllidaceae from thatstate as well as to provide data on their geographical distribution and comments on the biology and habitat of the species. To do so, field trips were carried out from October/2016 to December/2017. Three genera and 17 species of Amaryllidaceae were recorded in Espírito Santo state. Hippeastrum is the richest genus (8 spp.) followed by Griffinia (7 spp.) and Crinum (2 spp.). Griffinia colatinensis has conservation status defined as "Critically Endangered" (CR), while G. espiritensis, G. liboniana, H. brasilianum, H. reginae and H. striatum as "Endangered" (EN). Features such as floral scape (solid or fistulous), number and degree of fusion of the inflorescence bracts, length of the hypanthium tube, color pattern, corona (presence/absence and types), type of environment and subterraneous or exposed bulb were considered important for taxonomic distinction of the studied group. In this paper we provide taxonomic descriptions, identification keys for genera and species, distribution maps, illustrations and photographic plates.
