Verbenaceae from the Itatiaia National Park, Brazil

Abstract

This manuscript deals with the flora of Verbenaceae from the Itatiaia National Park, an important remnant of Atlantic Forest in the Serra da Mantiqueira Complex. The work comprehends the entire park and is based on specimens gathered in the field and specimens previously deposited in herbaria. Six genera: Glandularia, Lantana, Lippia, Petrea, Stachytarpheta, and Verbena and nine species were recorded, emphasizing Lippia pubescens and Stachytarpheta speciosa, both endemic to the park. The species occur in different phytophysiognomies, from ombrophilous forest understories to open fields. Descriptions, identification key, photos, and comments on ecology, taxonomy, and distribution are provided.
