Revisão taxonômica do gênero Coutoubea Aublet (Gentianaceae)

Abstract

The authors present a study of the five species and two varieties which make up the genus Coutoubea Aublet, which occurs in neotropical area.

This work includes descriptions and details of each species and the varieties. It also includes a dichotoms key for the identification of their geographic distribution and synonimezes varieties.

The majority of the species are known by the vulgar names of “Arabú", "Papai Nicolau", "Diambarana", "Baracuare", "Raiz Amargosa”, "Gentiana do Brasil", "Boca de Sapo", "Erva-de-Bicho", "Alfinetes" and "Fel-da-Terra".

C. reflexa Benth., from Republica of Guiane and C. minor H. B. K., from Venezuela, are mentioned for the first time, as they are now known to occurring in Brazil.
