Abstract
The present study comprises the taxa of the family Potamogetonaceae occurring in the Ceará state, which are represented by the genus Potamogeton. The taxa P. pusillus subsp. pusillus and P. illinoensis occur in the Ceará state and their populations develop in lentic and permanent aquatic environments as coastal lagoons and reservoirs. This work presents morphological descriptions, taxonomic identification keys, illustrations, taxonomic comments and geographic distribution data of the species.
