Taxonomic identity of Diodia angustata (Rubiaceae) and its transference to Planaltina

Abstract

As part of the studies carried out in the species of Diodia from the Americas, we present a discussion of the taxonomic identity of Diodia angustata. Based on the study of recent collections and original materials, we propose to transfer the species to the genus Planaltina, as P. angustata. A dichotomous key for all species of the genus is included. The pollen morphology is also analyzed and compared with other species of Planaltina. Images of the plant on its environment are provided. According to IUCN criterion, P. angustata must be considered endangered: EN B2a,b(iii).
