Flora of Usina São José, Igarassu, Pernambuco: Lauraceae

Lauraceae has 52 genera and about 2500-3500 species and is widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of the planet. In Brazil, it is represented by 23 genera and approximately 420 species. The Atlantic Forest is considered to be one of the centers of diversity for this family. This study aims to treat the Lauraceae taxonomically from fragments of Atlantic forest in Pernambuco state. This study presents 10 species in four genera: Cassytha filiformis, Cinnamomum triplinerve, Nectandra cuspidata, Ocotea canaliculata, O. indecora, O. glauca, O. glomerata, O. longifolia, O. notata, and O. puberula, the latter being a new record for Pernambuco. An identification key, descriptions and comments on the species, and illustrations of diagnostic characters are presented.
