ABSTRACT
During studies on Rhodophyta from the coastline of Bahia State, gametophytic and sporophytic specimens of Spermothamnion nonatoi A.B. Joly were found. The specimens were collected in the midlittoral and infralittoral zone. Although this species was referred from many regions of the Brazilian coast, only infertile or sporophytic specimens have been found. The present paper presents the description and illustrations of the male and female structures of the species.
