Dementia pugilistica is characterized by cognitive decline, behavioral changes, and parkinsonian signs. The most remarkable neuropathological finding is the large amount of neurofibrillary tangles and virtual absence of senile plaques. The aim of the study is to revise the subject, particularly the clinical picture, epidemiology, neuropathology, the strategies for early detection of cognitive signs, and its relation with Alzheimer's disease.
