Territorializing faith: Afro-religious militancy in the public management of religious diversity in Argentina

Abstract: The purpose of this article is to analyze the policies in the management of religious diversity in Argentina. It argues that the management of religious diversity has progressively shifted from a centralized model of national order to one of heterogeneous decentralization, especially at the municipal level. In a context of revitalization of the recognition of religious heterogeneity, it is the municipal administrations, in their proximity to the territory, the social actors and their needs, which have positioned themselves as privileged spaces. And where the afroreligious militancy has oriented a large part of its strategic actions. In this process, we will reconstruct the particularities assumed by the links between public actors and afroreligious militancy in the implementation of autonomous legal devices.
