Genealogy of the Evangelical Zionism in Brazil

Abstract: This article analyzes the development of Christian Zionist discourses in the Brazilian evangelical milieu. Privileging the discussion of books in defense of the State of Israel written by Brazilian evangelical leaders from different denominations, the traced genealogy pointed out some historical and political factors that fostered these publications in the 20th century. Despite their greater projection during and after Brazilian 2018 elections, Christian Zionism and the Dispensational Theology, that supported most analyzed books, were already part of the Brazilian evangelical cosmovision of both Historical and Pentecostal churches. This article also examines the impact of pilgrimages to the Holy Land, the Dominion Theology and the “New Apostolic Reformation” on Christian Zionist activism since the turn of the century
