The virtual presence of the sacred in pandemic times: virtuality and the street in the construction of the public space of Pelotas / RS

Abstract: from the pandemic emergence caused by the new coronavirus in 20202, it was observed a significant use of the tools available in the internet for activities that were interrupted to be in person. Faced of this scenario, the religious field presented adjustments in relation to face-to-face and collective meetings through the virtual space. To reflect on the religion and the pandemic, we propose in this paper to present some results found through netnographic observation, emphasizing in the comparative study between two leaders from different religious matrix, whose protagonisms Stem from their involvement in the organization of religious marches hel in the city of Pelotas (RS). The sihft from the streets to the virtual will be key to understanding religious action and its tensions in public space.
