Abstract: This article is the result of a collective research process around the production of health and health care practices in communities of Candomblé and Batuque. The research was developed from interviews with leaders of some communities and participation in activities chosen by them. Starting from a discussion about what it means to “take seriously” what emerged from these dialogues and some important reasons for doing so, this article mobilizes the materials produced in this research in a presentation of possibilities of the “ontological economy” of health care in terreiro communities.
