New cartographies of regional evangelical advocacy: local-multilateral politics from and within the Inter-American Human Rights System. Examples from the Chilean case

Abstract: This paper will develop some inquiries about the participation of evangelical organizations within civil society networks within the framework of the Inter-American Human Rights System (SIDH), through what we call Evangelical Political Networks (RPE), identifying some transformations in the modes of incidence of these groups, from multilateral instances to local anchors, and vice versa. The objective is to account for the new transnational and multilateral dynamics that operate in spaces linked to the Latin American evangelical field, examining the participation of Evangelical Coalitions in the Civil Society Dialogue of the Organization of American States (OAS) and its impact on the promotion of political-moral narratives within the so-called religious neoconservatism, to later analyze how these instances are instrumentalized and operationalized by local Chilean agents.
